This was our final week of the cycling initiative and we cycled out by the Holy Well and onto Slishwood.  Slishwood is located on the southern shore of Lough Gill in a stunning location between the lake and the Ox Mountains.  Well done to all who participated in the 4 week challenge and good luck to Aideen on Sunday in the An Post 60k Yeats cycle of Sligo.

Thanks to Warner and William for all their encouragement over the last few weeks. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Sligo CTC Cycling Initiative - Week 3

It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a great turnout for the cycling initiative last Wednesday. We all gathered at the centre and cycled along the Garavogue River, crossed over the bridge at the Riverside Hotel, out by the hospital towards Ballinode, out the Dromahair Rd and then to Hazelwood. Hazelwood is located at Half Moon Bay along the shores of Lough Gill. The walks here are among the most beautiful with views from the trail toward Church Island, Cottage Island and Goat Island and the full expanse of Lough Gill. The fitness of the group is improving and next week is the last week of the cycling initiative.

This cycle was very enjoyable with a very tough hill on the way back but the amazing scenery on such a beautiful day made it all worth it.  Well done to all who took part!
